Boo! Spectral Theatre Society is calling out to all directors, producers, comedy troupes and indie theatre companies to take part in their first annual festival of adult fairy tales, tentatively entitled "Tales from the Toadstool".
What we are looking for is 6 independent directorial teams to produce 6 original shorts based on classic fairy tales, to be mounted together as part of an evening of fun plays geared to an imaginative adult audience.
This original festival is slated to go up this October in the week leading up to Halloween, and we want these shows to be dark, weird, spooky, and/or twisted. The only rules are: each individual piece should be between 10 and 20 minutes long, must use a minimal set and relatively simple lighting, and explore the theme of faerie tales by presenting either a classic story with a dark edge, or an original piece with a classic, storybook feel.
We intend to compile all our scripts and teams in the next few weeks. So, if you have a script or idea you think would work, and/or are interested in getting involved as a director, actor or techie, contact us via email at
